Tuning geht und is sinnvoll bei Hardware, Software wie OS und Programm
Tuning
- Hardware :
CPU : Better 4 real Core or 2 core / 4 threads, mor important is CPU frq, as most only 2 main core are used !
RAM : As much as possible, and important use ALL slots = double or quad the transfer speed
Disc : faster is better, SSD is good, HDD is last chois
- OS :
Alow the OS itself to use much RAM as hdd cache = faster in RAM then !
- Minetest :
Cache : intern cache, longer remember chunks = 'server_unload_unused_data_timeout = 600' = 10 minutes, I have it on 64800 with 32 GB RAM
dedicated_server_step : standard, but as good CPU and low impact mods to slow (CPU has no work) : 'dedicated_server_step = 0.033' changes a lot, and if still higher real max_lag adjust dedicated time up also
active_block_range : the further the world around a player is activated the MORE things are happening in CPU = lag : 'active_block_range = 2' or 1 is ok, special with monster.
there are more options if you masterd this one ...
